How the Narrative Around Bitcoin and Mining Has Changed
Bitcoin mining is evolving from a controversial technology into a strategic asset for the energy sector. Thanks to greater efficiency, the increasing use of renewable energy, and growing support from institutions and energy providers, it is helping monetize surplus energy while making power grids more flexible and resilient.
Computational Power at the Service of the Blockchain: Mining and the Role of Mining Pools
Mining is the process that enables Proof-of-Work blockchains, such as Bitcoin, to validate transactions while ensuring security and decentralization. Discover how it works, why computational power is essential, and the role that mining pools and Alps Blockchain play in supporting the network.
How Bitcoin Transactions Work
A Bitcoin transaction is the fundamental building block of the Bitcoin blockchain, representing the transfer of bitcoin from one user to another. In practice, however, bitcoin are managed through UTXOs (Unspent Transaction Outputs), which are consumed and replaced with new outputs whenever a payment is made, including any change returned to the sender. Every transaction must satisfy strict cryptographic and protocol validation rules and is independently verified by nodes across the network. Only after a miner includes it in a block does the transaction become confirmed, and after six confirmations, it is generally considered final.
